No, a foundation is not required. Please review the BuildPanel ground prep documents to view acceptable ways to place your unit. If you are building a permitted tiny home or ADU a foundation is required for structural sign off.
- What tools are required
BuildPanel units ship with the required Allen Key, Hex Socket, and Sand Mallet for installation. You will need a drill/impact driver, socket wrench, and two ladders (8ft / Step)

We deliver individual units to continental USA and Canada. We can ship containers full of product

We ship to curbside to residential addresses using dry van trailer trucks. We can also provide a more customized shipping package for addresses that cannot be accessed by dry van trucks or if you have specific delivery requirements
We can ship to terminals across North America, usually within 30 minutes of any location which allows customers to pick-up with their own trailers.

- What is included in a BuidPanel Unit
Everything that is needed for the building of the unit, including floors, walls, roof, and truss systems.
- Can I put an exterior siding on BuildPanel?
Yes, you can side it traditionally
- Can I expand my build panel?
Yes, you can. You can purchase more panels and expand your build panel to make it bigger.
- Can I disassemble my build panel?
Yes, you can. Units can be disassembled, flat packed, shipped, and reassembled numerous times.
Materials
- What is the exterior coating
The coating used by BuildPanel is a lignin-based thermos-set biopolymer which is infused with a crushed glass. The coating is waterproof and weather resistant while being paintable.
- Can BuildPanel units be painted?
Yes, panels painted with an acrylic based exterior paint. We recommend using a primer first
- What is the panel frame made of?
¾” Plywood with a Struc 1 rating
- Are the panels insulated
Yes, r14 Rockwool is used for every panel and connection in the system
- What is the interior panel
A finished plywood with no knots or patches
- Can I paint the interior
Yes, with standard interior paint, we recommend using a primer first
- Does the metal roof come with the build panel?
Yes. The metal roof is already on the roof panels. When you lock in your roof panels, you’re doing your sanding seam at the same time.
Utilities
- What type of electrical is there with Build Panel?
The two primary options for electrical on a build panel unit are through-wall electrical connections which provide receptacles that are plugged in with either a 15 or 30 amp plug or complete electrical packages with sub-panels and circuits, usually around 100 amps.
- How do you run the wires between panels
Build panel provides panels that have EMT conduit already in them which allows for the wire to be run down to a box to connect your circuit switch and then runs up through the ceiling to connect into a junction box or directly into your breaker-panel.
- Can I add plumbing to my build panel?
Build panel has several plumbing options with plumbing built directly into the panels.
Permits
- Do BuildPanel units require permits?
Depends on the size and intended use of the unit. Please check with your local county, municipal, or HOA bylaws to determine whether a permit is required.
- What is the cost to obtain a permit?
Permit costs vary by location, depending on the size, location, and scope of work.
- What is the difference between Accessory Building vs. Dwelling
Permit requirements vary substantially based on the use of the building. Accessory Buildings (Offices, Shops, Garages, Studios, etc.) will usually require different permitting than Dwellings (Tiny Home, ADU, Garden Suite). BuildPanel offers packages for both, please contact us with any questions you may have.
